Venturing into the world of data wasn’t exactly in my comfort zone. I was drowning in information overload, and the jargon sounded like a foreign language, but here I am today, excited about Data Analytics.
I joined the 2023 Thriving Hand-in-Hand (THnH) Mentoring Programme, which has been exciting. I went from staring blankly at charts to crafting narratives from data. I was trained in Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
My mentor did a great job in taking the basics deeply, which formed the foundation for my knowledge of Data Analytics. He is a focused problem-solver and a confidence booster.
I am excited to say that I have put my newfound skills to the real test. Analyzing customer behaviour for a food-based local vendor, and a wine store where they have experienced more stability in inflow and tracing their shortages where and when necessary. This has been an amazing experience.

My name is Ruth Idota, one of the 2023 thriving hand in hand mentees. It’s been 6 months of mentoring under UI/UX career path and personal development.
I got to know about the program via Instagram. Just starting out in my career I needed someone who could walk me through this path. Having experienced some setbacks in my previous career path because I couldn’t find my way around so I had to leverage on this mentorship program.
It has been a wonderful experience at the mentorship program.
My career was not just impacted but my life generally.
It gave me focus. Before the mentorship program, I couldn’t really decide what career path to focus on but during the mentorship program, I got focus.
As a result, I’m in the processing of upscaling to become a product designer through internship programs
Mentorship program is what anybody should consider especially if you’re just getting started in a career path, or you’re trying to find your feet in life.
I sincerely want to appreciate the organizers of this program, like I lack words to express how grateful I am for this opportunity.

I learnt Front-end Development in the Thriving while Waiting mentorship program named Thriving Hand-in-Hand. The thriving Hand-in-Hand mentorship program provides mentees with a great opportunity to develop and become competent in their chosen career path.
My journey into front-end development started in July 2023. I was at a point in life where I was still trying to find a balance, on a path to unveiling my purpose in life, then my friend who was into programming sent me a digital flier as well as a link to apply for this mentorship programme.
Overall, it has been a beautiful and rewarding experience from accelerating self-development to gaining a wealth of confidence and increased level of knowledge. My mentor has been amazing, he gave me emotional support and guidance which helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses and encouraged me to take on new challenges thereby enhancing my personal growth.
